Dr. Dina Began was born in New Jersey and raised in Bergen County, New Jersey. She is among a small group of dermatologists in the United States to be board certified in both Dermatology and Internal Medicine. She provides her patients with a tailored comprehensive approach to skin care. Dr. Began has extensive experience and has served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the NYU School of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medicine, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
She was accepted into several medical schools during her senior year of high school and chose the accelerated B.S./M.D. program graduating cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and her medical degree from Albany Medical College. Dr. Began’s physics background from a top engineering school (she ranked number one in her freshman class) has served as a solid foundation for understanding the technology of lasers.
She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Albany Medical College and Montefiore Medical Center and her dermatology training at the Indiana University School of Medicine where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Began has served as a member of the Executive Board of the New York University Medical Center. She was the recipient of the Irwin Lubowe Fellowship for outstanding academic scholarship and the NYU Full Time Dermatology Faculty of the Year Award in 2001. In 2014, Dr. Began was awarded with the Special Recognition Award from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Unified Division of Dermatology for outstanding mentorship of dermatology residents, medical students and colleagues. At the Albert Einstein Medical School she wrote the Dean’s letters for graduating students interested in Dermatology.
Dr. Began is a Castle Connolly Top Doctor with extensive experience in both the academic, medical and cosmetic practice setting ranging from being a teacher, practice owner of Madison Avenue Dermatology on Madison Street in Hoboken, NJ to working in an upscale cosmetic office on Park Avenue in New York.
She has a special interest in Acne, Acne injections, Cosmetic Dermatology and Cosmetic Procedures, Eczema, Hair Loss, Psoriasis, Rosacea, Skin Cancer Screenings, Prevention and Treatments.
Dr. Began enjoys sailing, writing and spending time with family, friends and her cocker spaniel, an AIHA survivor.
